ABOUT LAFIYA

Lafiya works to make contraception accessible to anyone who needs and wants it. Through its network of female health professionals, Lafiya Sisters, it provides information and delivers contraception directly to communities that lack access to products and information.

Lafiya currently operates across six Nigerian states and manages more than 600 Lafiya Sisters. It is also building a supply chain and partnering with government stakeholders to support sustainable contraception financing. Its last-mile approach has supported more than 800,000 women.

Lafiya is a fast-growing nonprofit transitioning from start-up to scale-up, with a focus on impact, cost-effectiveness, dignity and agency.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As Lafiya grows from approximately 25 staff to a projected 45, this hands-on IT Generalist will build and run the organisation’s IT function. Responsibilities include specifying and procuring devices, establishing cybersecurity controls, managing user accounts and platforms, providing day-to-day support, and leading a cybersecurity assessment.

The first major deliverable is to equip and secure the organisation ahead of its December all-staff retreat: define device specifications, secure procurement-budget approval and get hardware to staff on time. The post-holder will administer platforms including Slack, SurveyCTO, Personio, Airtable, Capsule, Squarespace, Xero, Claude, Microsoft Excel and others.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Device and infrastructure
• Build device specifications for different staff roles.
• Develop procurement budgets with the COO and Finance, then source, procure and configure devices.
• Establish device inventory and replacement cycles.

Cybersecurity
• Lead an organisation-wide cybersecurity assessment.
• Implement baseline controls including MFA, endpoint protection, password management and access controls aligned with ISO 27001 requirements.
• Draft acceptable-use, device and data-handling policies.
• Monitor and respond to incidents and lead security-awareness training.

User, account and IT support
• Manage accounts and access as staff join, change roles or leave.
• Administer Google Workspace, Slack and other core platforms.
• Manage subscriptions, licences and costs.
• Provide first-line support, onboarding, troubleshooting and documentation.

Systems strategy and field support
• Identify, pilot and roll out systems that improve productivity, including training and change management.
• Support migrations, data migration, integrations and access setup.
• Oversee mobile devices for Lafiya Sisters and support systems such as an eLMIS as needed.

WHO LAFIYA IS LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate is a practical IT generalist who communicates clearly with non-technical colleagues, understands least privilege and defence in depth, builds systems from scratch, works autonomously, responds reliably, delivers to deadlines and can work across countries and time zones.

• Mandatory Google Workspace administration experience.
• Mandatory Slack or similar collaboration-platform administration experience.
• Mandatory recognised cybersecurity certification, such as CompTIA Security+, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity or equivalent, plus practical security-control experience.
• Cybersecurity risk assessment, MDM/endpoint management and vendor-management experience are advantageous.
