FAO is recruiting a National Ecological Project Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for the SURAGGWA project—Scaling-Up Resilience in Africa’s Great Green Wall.

The project aims to strengthen ecological and climate resilience through land restoration, carbon sequestration, and improved livelihoods across the Great Green Wall corridor, including Nigeria.

Key responsibilities:
• Develop and implement M&E/MEAL systems, tools, and procedures.
• Monitor technical and physical project implementation.
• Track financial management, compliance, indicators, and schedules.
• Collect, verify, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data.
• Measure progress against project targets.
• Prepare monitoring reports and evidence-based recommendations.
• Document lessons learned and support continuous improvement.
• Provide monitoring information to project decision-makers.
• Work with the National Project Coordinator, FAO Representative, and project stakeholders.

Requirements:
• University degree from an accredited institution in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Statistics, Management, or a related field.
• Nigerian nationality, as this is a National Project Personnel position.
• Knowledge of Northern Nigeria, including local conditions, institutions, and the Kano region.
• Experience with monitoring and evaluation and results-based management.
• Knowledge of digital data-collection tools.
• Strong data-analysis, reporting, communication, and organisational skills.

Contract: National Project Personnel (non-staff), 12 months.
