Protection Coordinator – Nigeria

DRC is seeking a Protection Coordinator to provide technical leadership, coordination, advisory support, fundraising assistance, and representation for its protection programme in Nigeria.

Key responsibilities:
• Lead the development and implementation of DRC’s protection strategy.
• Provide technical advice to country-office and implementation teams.
• Contribute to proposals, reports, assessments, and evaluations.
• Build the capacity of staff and partners.
• Develop SOPs, guidelines, and knowledge products.
• Review protection incident reports and identify capacity gaps.
• Analyse protection challenges and trends in Nigeria.
• Represent DRC in protection sectors, clusters, and working groups.
• Engage NGOs, donors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Identify funding opportunities and support advocacy initiatives.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in International Law, International Relations, Political Science, Social Work, Humanitarian Assistance, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
• At least five years’ experience in protection, including three years at a senior technical level.
• Experience writing proposals and reports.
• Experience developing SOPs, guidelines, and technical papers.
• Experience with protection monitoring, case management, PSS, legal assistance, GBV, or protection advocacy is strongly preferred.
• Experience in representation, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Master’s degree, Nigeria-context experience, partner-capacity-building experience, and French are advantages.
• Strong communication, analytical, organisational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
