Assignment summary
Baseline study for the Akelius Digital Language Learning Platform pilot integrated into the Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP) in Kano State (12 ABEP learning centres across Kumbotso, Gwale, and Nassarawa LGAs; ~2,400 learners aged 10–18). The study will generate evidence on practicality, contextual fit, acceptability, learner literacy levels, facilitator capacity, digital readiness, safeguarding, inclusion, and implementation readiness.
Key objectives (highlights)
- Establish baseline benchmarks on learners’ English literacy skills
- Assess learning resources, facilitator capacity/digital competency
- Assess digital readiness of learning centres (infrastructure/devices/power)
- Analyse contextual, gender, disability and inclusion factors
- Identify enablers, gaps, risks and barriers; provide recommendations
Methodology
Mixed-methods, utilisation-focused baseline study; sampling strategy to be proposed by consultant; strong safeguarding and ethical requirements due to work with children and adolescents.
Deliverables (highlights)
Inception report + tools; final tools and sampling methodology; draft baseline report with cleaned datasets; final baseline report + PPT brief.
