Field Worker III

IITA is seeking a Field Worker III to support cassava breeding and Postharvest Physiological Deterioration (PPD) research activities.

Key responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain cassava fields.
• Support harvesting and post-harvest activities.
• Collect agronomic and phenotypic data from breeding populations.
• Document and transport research materials between fields and laboratories.
• Capture and quality-check digital images of cassava roots.
• Use digital tools to collect, clean, and store field and laboratory data.
• Maintain accurate records of research activities.
• Assist with media preparation, sterilisation, and sample handling.
• Support the multiplication and maintenance of cassava tissue-culture materials.
• Keep laboratory workspaces organised and ensure equipment safety.

Requirements:
• SSCE/O’Level certificate.
• At least two years of relevant experience in laboratory operations, field research, or data collection.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience in agricultural or research projects is an advantage.
• Familiarity with digital data-collection tools.
• Ability to work in field, screen-house, and laboratory environments.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
