About WCS
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is a U.S.-based non-profit established in 1895, dedicated to saving wildlife and wild places through science-driven solutions and conservation actions. WCS has worked in Nigeria since 2001, supporting protection and management of key protected areas and species, alongside community livelihood and WASH support.

Job Summary
Provide technical support in spatial data management, mapping, and analysis to strengthen biodiversity monitoring, law enforcement, and conservation planning within the WCS Yankari Landscape (with possible support to the wider Nigeria programme). Manage geospatial datasets, support field teams with GPS/mapping tools, and produce high-quality maps and analyses for decision-making. Reports to the Biomonitoring Coordinator.

Key responsibilities (highlights)
- Support patrol/survey GPS data collection; manage spatial databases and GIS layers
- Produce maps and spatial analyses for law enforcement, biomonitoring, and planning
- Analyze patrol data, wildlife observations, and threats using GIS software
- Train rangers/field staff in GPS use and basic GIS; support SMART-based patrol monitoring
- Contribute spatial inputs to donor reports and technical briefs

Qualifications (highlights)
- Bachelor’s in Geography/GIS/Environmental Science (Master’s advantage)
- 3+ years GIS/spatial data management experience (conservation preferred)
- Proficiency in ArcGIS/QGIS and GPS tools; remote sensing familiarity
- SMART experience desirable; M&E knowledge an advantage
