Background
The Nigeria INGO Forum (NIF) was established in 2014 to facilitate collaboration among INGOs in Nigeria for humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding efforts. It supports information sharing, advocacy, and engagement with authorities, donors, and the UN. More info: https://ingoforum.ng/

Role summary
As Humanitarian Safety Adviser (HSA), lead the establishment and day-to-day operationalisation of NIF’s Humanitarian Safety Unit (HSU) for the North-East and North Central regions, providing member organisations with a principled, member-owned safety coordination mechanism.

Key responsibilities (highlights)
- Convene and facilitate safety coordination meetings/roundtables for NIF members
- Develop and disseminate safety information products (incl. 6Ws database, quarterly reports)
- Maintain incident database, analyse trends, and support preparedness/decision-making
- Coordinate safety trainings (HEAT/SSAFE or equivalent)
- Engage with UNDSS under SLT framework; support joint preparedness initiatives
- Advisory support on bureaucratic/admin processes affecting operations
- Represent NIF in coordination platforms on access/operations
- Provide technical guidance to Humanitarian Safety Officer; ensure protection-sensitive handling of data

Requirements (highlights)
- 5+ years NGO/humanitarian experience; bachelor’s degree
- Experience in complex/volatile contexts; strong representation/negotiation skills
- Knowledge of humanitarian coordination system; UN Security Management System; SLT framework
- Strong data analysis skills; English fluency; Hausa (or other northern languages) advantage

Contract
8 months (possible extension). Duty station: Maiduguri. National position.
