About the Job

Propcom+ is an eight-year (2023–2030) rural and agricultural market systems development programme funded by the UK’s FCDO and implemented by Palladium. It promotes climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture and forestry that benefit people, climate, and nature. Propcom+ works to increase agricultural productivity, nutrition and food security; strengthen climate resilience and protect ecosystems; and address drivers of conflict and insecurity in rural communities.

Purpose: Propcom+ seeks Monitoring and Research Assistants (MRAs) in Jigawa, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Taraba, Yobe, Oyo, and Ekiti states. Up to two MRAs may be recruited per state. Applicants will work in their state of residence, overseeing data validation, primary data collection, and research assignments.

Scope of work: Review programme and MERL information; attend onboarding and supplementary training; conduct data validation, verification and spot checks through field visits; support commissioned studies and surveys; collect market information on input and produce prices; attend programme events; and submit activity-based and month-end reports with evidence such as photographs and attendance sheets.

Assignment: 16 September 2026 to 31 March 2027, on a call-down basis as needed, with a maximum level of effort of 20 days per month. MRAs report to the MERL Manager and collaborate with intervention teams.

Qualifications: Degree in agriculture, social sciences or a related field; strong data collection skills; intermediate Microsoft Excel for data entry, validation and preliminary pivot-table analysis; intermediate Microsoft Word for reports; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to speak and write English and relevant local languages; and a functional laptop and Android mobile phone.
