About the Job
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the position of Head, Project Coordination Unit at its headquarters in Ibadan.
Contract: 3-year renewable contract.
Location: Ibadan, Oyo, Nigeria.
Closing date: 14 September 2026.
Reference: IITA/P&C/NRS2026-033.
Duties:
• Provide strategic leadership and management of the Project Coordination Unit, ensuring alignment with FMS goals and reorganisation objectives.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise facility-related projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, budgets and timelines.
• Coordinate communication between project teams, internal clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Implement project-management best practices, documentation, quality control and change management.
• Oversee project cost control and financial performance with the Project Accountant and Quantity Surveyor.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation plans to meet safety, quality and compliance standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 41001.
• Coach and develop project supervisors, quantity surveyors, project accountants and other team members.
• Drive continuous improvement and digitalisation, including an Integrated Facilities Management System.
• Represent FMS in senior-management meetings and coordinate with Finance, Procurement and P&C.
• Generate project status and KPI reports and advise senior leadership on risks, mitigation and progress.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
• HND, B.Sc. or Advanced Diploma in Project Management, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• M.Sc. in Project Management is an advantage.
• Recognised project-management certification such as PMP or COREN is highly desirable.
• 8–10 years of progressive experience managing multidisciplinary facilities or infrastructure projects, including leadership and supervision.
• Proven experience in project planning, scheduling and execution in construction or facilities-management environments.
• Experience coordinating stakeholders, contractors, vendors, consultants and cross-functional departments.

• Organisational and analytical ability with attention to detail.
• Excellent project management, planning, coordination and resource optimisation.
• Effective supervisory, communication and interpersonal skills.
