The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is a U.S.-based non-profit established in 1895, dedicated to saving wildlife and wild places through science-driven solutions and conservation actions. WCS has worked in Nigeria since 2001, supporting protection and management of key protected areas and species, alongside community livelihood and WASH support.

Job Summary
Provide leadership, management, and oversight of the WCS Nigeria Yankari Project. Work closely with the Country Director to provide strategic direction and oversee biomonitoring, community engagement, governance, stakeholder coordination, and law enforcement support for effective protection of biodiversity and sustainable management of Yankari Game Reserve. Serve as primary liaison with government agencies, donors, and partners in Yankari/Bauchi State.

Key responsibilities (highlights)
- Strategic leadership: workplans, budgets, performance targets; supervise multi-component teams
- Law enforcement & security coordination; strengthen collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders; support SMART/EarthRanger use
- Biomonitoring & research: guide monitoring systems; integrate ecological/spatial data; ensure reporting
- Community engagement & governance: support governance platforms, conflict mitigation, resilience initiatives
- Partnerships & donor relations: maintain relationships; ensure donor reporting and communications
- Monitoring, evaluation & learning: oversee M&E systems and adapt strategies

Qualifications (highlights)
- Master’s in conservation/ecology/environmental management/NR governance (or related)
- 10+ years conservation project management with leadership of multi-component programs
- Experience in law enforcement coordination, biodiversity monitoring, community engagement
- Donor-funded project management and reporting
- English & Hausa; willingness to be based in Bauchi with field travel
