The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the position of Utility Manager at its headquarters in Ibadan.

Contract: 3-year renewable contract.

Duties:
• Manage daily operations of utility systems, including diesel generators, solar panels, electrical distribution, water treatment and supply, wastewater management and related infrastructure.
• Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with utility technicians and external service providers.
• Monitor electricity, water and fuel consumption and implement conservation measures.
• Develop and manage utility-operation budgets and coordinate procurement of fuel, chemicals and spare parts.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including emissions and water-quality standards.
• Maintain utility-asset documentation, maintenance records and regulatory permits.
• Respond to outages, equipment failures and other utility emergencies.
• Support capital projects involving new utility infrastructure and upgrades.
• Liaise with utility providers and contractors and negotiate service agreements where required.
• Identify renewable-energy and sustainable-practice opportunities.
• Perform other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:
• HND or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• NATE or COREN certification required.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience managing and maintaining electrical distribution systems, household appliances, power-generation equipment and machinery, water-production facilities and general utility infrastructure.
• Technical expertise in electrical distribution and installation systems and water treatment and production.
• Strong analytical, organisational, leadership, supervisory and communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety standards for utility facilities.
