Plan International Nigeria is inviting girls across Abuja to apply for the 2026/2027 Shadow Country Director Programme. The initiative supports girls’ leadership, gender equality, advocacy and activism. The selected participant will step into the role of Plan International Nigeria’s Country Director for a day, gain first-hand leadership experience, participate in a year-long mentorship programme, strengthen leadership, advocacy and communication skills, engage with influential leaders, contribute to important conversations, and inspire other girls to become changemakers. Eligibility: applicant must be a girl aged 18 to 24 at the time of application; be Nigerian and currently residing in Abuja; demonstrate interest in gender equality, leadership, advocacy and activism; show leadership potential and ability to positively represent girls’ leadership; come from any background or ability, with girls from underrepresented or marginalised communities especially encouraged to apply; and be willing to commit to programme requirements. Members of youth networks and groups affiliated with Plan International Nigeria, including Girls Get Equal and the Youth Advisory Panel, are encouraged to apply. Application questions include personal information, disability and assistance needs, motivation and intended achievements, learning goals and leadership exchange, and one proposed solution to make life easier for girls in the applicant’s community.
