RIASEC Career Interest Check

RIASEC is a career-interest model developed by John Holland. It identifies six interest areas:

  • R — Realistic: practical, hands-on, equipment, nature, or physical work.

  • I — Investigative: research, analysis, science, and problem-solving.

  • A — Artistic: creativity, writing, design, music, or self-expression.

  • S — Social: teaching, helping, counselling, and supporting people.

  • E — Enterprising: leadership, persuasion, business, and goal-setting.

  • C — Conventional: organization, records, systems, accuracy, and administration.


The letters with the highest scores suggest work environments or career activities that may interest someone. It is for career exploration—not a diagnosis or guarantee of job suitability.

Before you begin, read the six career-interest descriptions: • Realistic — you enjoy practical, hands-on work with tools, equipment, nature, or physical tasks. • Investigative — you enjoy research, analysis, problem-solving, science, and discovering how things work. • Artistic — you enjoy creativity, writing, design, music, performance, and expressing ideas. • Social — you enjoy teaching, helping, counselling, supporting, and developing people. • Enterprising — you enjoy leadership, persuasion, business, organizing, and reaching goals. • Conventional — you enjoy organizing information, following systems, accuracy, records, and administration.
