Global Rights is an international human rights and governance capacity-building non-governmental organization. We work with local activists in Africa to promote and protect the rights of marginalized populations. For more than 30 years, we have worked to build the capacity of underserved communities in Nigeria and build platforms for participatory governance, working on a wide range of cross cutting issues including: women’s rights, access to justice, natural resource governance, climate change and human rights; civic space strengthening; and security and human rights.
Position SummaryThe Programme Support Volunteer will support the implementation of Global Rights Ghana’s strategic objectives by contributing to research, policy analysis, advocacy, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement activities. Working closely with the Program Team, the Volunteer will provide technical and administrative support across key thematic areas, including Equitable Resource Governance, Security and Human Rights and Civic Space Strengthening.The role offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in human rights programming while contributing to initiatives that promote accountability, social justice, democratic governance, and the protection of human rights in Ghana.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Support
Conduct research, policy analysis, and drafting of reports, briefs, position papers, and other knowledge products related to Global Rights’ thematic priorities.
Support the monitoring, implementation, and coordination of ongoing projects and program activities.
Assist in executing urgent actions, advocacy initiatives, and stakeholder engagement activities.
Support the development and strengthening of partnerships with civil society organizations, community groups, government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
Conduct policy mapping and analysis of laws, policies, and regulatory frameworks relevant to Global Rights’ thematic areas, particularly Equitable Resource Governance, Security and Human Rights and Civic Space Strengthening.
Monitor, track, and document developments, trends, and media reports relating to human rights issues and violations in Ghana.
Contribute to evidence-based advocacy efforts through data collection, analysis, and documentation.
Grants, Partnerships, and Resource Mobilization
Support the identification of funding opportunities aligned with Global Rights’ strategic priorities.
Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, concept notes, donor reports, and partnership documents.
Conduct background research to support resource mobilization and organizational development efforts.
Event and Administrative Support
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of workshops, trainings, consultations, dialogues, campaigns, and other programme-related events.
Assist in managing event logistics, participant coordination, communications, documentation, and post-activity reporting.
Prepare meeting notes, activity reports, and other administrative documentation as required.
Perform other duties and assignments as may be delegated to support programme delivery and organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of bachelor’s degree
Minimum of two (2) years knowledge and/or experience working with human rights organizations
Understanding of natural resources governance, gender, development and human rights issues in Ghana
Strong communication and report writing skills
Proven project management skills in complex, multi-faceted projects
Demonstrable ability to work on tight deadlines
Ability to provide practical solutions within set deadlines.
Excellent planning and prioritization skills
