RATIONALE for Project DPro training
Recognizing that development organizations and their projects are unique, the Project DPro Guide is NOT a template to be applied indiscriminately to all projects and by all organizations rather, it provides a contextualized, balanced, comprehensive, and adaptable resource to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of projects in the development sector. Therefore the purpose of the Four (4) days training is to use the Project DPro Course Guide
to improve development professionals’ project management capacity.


Who should attend?
The Project DPro Guide provides an introductory, independent exploration of Project Management within the context
of the development sector. It is intended for an audience that includes:
• Project Managers and team members who are new to project management
• Project Managers and team members who are new to the development sector
• Development sector professionals who intend to pursue professional credentials in project  management
• Consultants/contract staff operating in the development sector
 

Objectives:
The objectives include:
 To enable trainees to demonstrate that they know and understand the content of the Project DPro Guide.
 To enable trainees to demonstrate their ability to apply and analyze the contents of the Project DPro Guide.
 To prepare trainees for the Project DPro examination by guiding them through what the certification exams will assess.


Outline of Contents:
Using Project DPro Course Guide, the training is organized into four sections:
 Introduction to Projects in the Development Sector
 Phases in the Life of a Development Project
 Project Management Disciplines and Principles
 Adapting Project DPro Model


Learning Outcomes
1. Knowledge
 Trainees will know key facts, terms and concepts from the manual/guidance
 Understand the key roles & Responsibilities of a Project Manager
 Understand the difference between commercial projects and projects in the Development


2. Comprehension
 Understand key concepts from the manual/guidance
 Understand the PMD Pro Project Phase Model
 Understand the PMD Pro Project Disciplines and Principles
 Understand how the knowledge gained can be applied(where, when and how)


3. Application
 Be able to apply key concepts relating to the syllabus area for a given scenario
 Be able to apply and tailor the Projects in the Development Sector to a scenario
 Be able to identify, analyse and distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate application of the Projects in the Development Sector syllabus area to a scenario


4. Analysis
 Be able to identify, analyze and distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate use of the PMD Pro
